Nokia has completed a successful field trial of C and L band WDM optical line system with Philippine mobile operator Globe Telecom. The trial demonstrated operation of Nokia's innovative PSEVs chipset transmitting a 600Gbs channel in the C band and a 400Gbs channel in the L band on Globe's live optical network. Nokia also announced that it will lead the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research’s KOMSENS-6G project. Furthermore, the Open-IX Association, expanded its reach to Africa, certifying three of the largest African based Internet Exchange Points have obtained OIX-1 certification through the Association’s global Internet Exchange certification program.
Members of NTCA and the Rural Broadband Association received over $400 million in loans and grants for broadband deployment through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s latest distribution of ReConnect Program funding. The funding will support service to over 73,000 people, nearly 2,000 businesses, over 5,500 farms and 122 schools.
