The Future of 5G Innovation

This fast-growing opportunity enables CSPs to move beyond connectivity to create new revenue streams, and it’s gaining momentum as CSPs look to partner with gaming companies to co-create offers and monetize them through digital channels.
site planning. Oracle Communications technologies improve remote operations by exchanging digital information intelligently, securely, and accurately between in-field personnel, field-to-control, or field-to-cloud applications.

Energy and water

The climate crisis demands more eco-friendly solutions, and the technical features of 5G can support the deployment of smart power grids through low latency, high reliability, and secure communications. As people continue to improve their efforts around sustainable living, 5G can act as a backbone for grid modernization. With more reliable, seamless experiences for consumers interacting with smart and sustainable home applications, usage and adoption will increase.

To demonstrate the impact that consumers have on energy usage, Oracle Energy and Water has teamed up with Oracle Communications and Oracle Construction & Engineering to present a physical viewing of a Connected Hub, or Tiny Town, in the lab. A virtual visit to the Connected Hub allows viewers to interact with a simulation of a town and reenact real-world use cases to see how their actions impact energy efficiency and utility grid reliability. The town showcases existing technologies—smart utility tech in the form of poles, wires, transformers, solar panels, a wind turbine, and even a tiny substation and gas assets—connected to an electrical network (shown in Figure 2 on next page). The Connected Hub demonstrates how Oracle Energy and Water solutions can work with a neighborhood at scale to optimize energy efficiency, reliability, and customer savings.

Cloud gaming

According to games market insights consultant Newzoo, 21.7 million paying users of cloud games generated a total of $1.5 billion worldwide in 2021. The firm predicts that the number of paying users will almost triple to 58.6 million by 2024, with revenues also expected to increase four times to $6.3 billion. This fast-growing opportunity enables CSPs to move beyond connectivity to create new revenue streams, and it’s gaining momentum as CSPs look to partner with gaming companies to co-create offers and monetize them through digital channels. This experience is designed to engage customers using a cloud-based immersive gaming experience enabled by a service
