Juniper Research Find Huge IoT Roaming Growth
Juniper Research announced that their new study has found that operator revenue from IoT roaming will grow from $1.1 billion in 2024 to $2.2 billion in 2029. This market-leading study predicts that 5G IoT devices will be instrumental in driving this increase; accounting for more than 40% of total revenue by 2029, despite accounting for fewer than 10% of IoT roaming connections.

University Selects Nile
Nile announced that Johnson C. Smith University has selected the Nile Access Service to replace its existing wired and wireless LAN solution across its entire campus. The institution selected Nile’s solution due to its unique performance guarantees for availability, coverage, and capacity, its AI-powered “as-a-Service” architecture that automates network lifecycle management, and its native campus zero trust security that prevents lateral movement attacks such as ransomware.

Nokia wins 5G deal with Viettel Group
Nokia announced that it has signed a major new deal with Viettel Group to deploy 5G equipment for the first time nationwide in Vietnam. The ambitious project will cover 22 provinces across the country and support Viettel’s strategy of advancing 5G infrastructure and digital transformation. The project will also see Nokia modernize Viettel’s 4G infrastructure. Deployment will begin this year.

Telstra Utilizes Ciena WaveLogic 6
Telstra announced a successful world first milestone, achieving 1.6Tb/s through a single optical channel over 700km with Ericsson using Ciena's WaveLogic 6 Extreme. This trial was conducted alongside live traffic services across the central Telstra InfraCo fibre route between Melbourne and Canberra, which is one of the highest capacity routes in Australia.
