Ericsson and MobiFone have signed an MoU to collaborate on establishing a 5G Innovation Hub at MobiFone’s premises in Vietnam. The 5G Innovation Hub will feature innovative 5G use cases that demonstrate the potential of 5G for consumers and enterprises based on advanced, state of the art equipment, trained resources and interactive display. ZTE teamed up with China Telecom's Suzhou Branch to deploy an innovative 5G IoT integration network solution at The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University. IBM completed its latest expansion of the IBM Quantum Data Center in Poughkeepsie, New York, which operates the highest number of available utility-scale quantum computers at a single location in the world. These systems are a part of the more than a dozen quantum computers offered to global clients via the IBM cloud.

Telefonica and Halotech Digital Services launched an innovative IoT solution for secure communication based on post-quantum encryption for safety-critical environments, such as mining, healthcare or industrial sectors, among others. The solution called TU Quantum Encryption has been developed based on the proof of concept IoT Quantum Ready for Halotech AI helmets, applied to Halo I and Halo III smart devices.

Cloud News

Intersec launched its new private cloud platform designed to host and manage its cloud-native portfolio of B2B and B2G applications. This innovative solution offers public and private organizations a fully managed, end-to-end cloud environment that enhances security, performance, and cost-efficiency. NTT DATA Japan has selected Oracle Alloy to help Japanese organizations across the public and private sector accelerate the use of cloud services while addressing data sovereignty and compliance requirements. With Oracle Alloy deployed in its data centers, NTT DATA Japan will be able to give its customers access to 150-plus Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services, including the latest AI capabilities. Orange Business deployed their centralized managed hybrid cloud solution for TMF Group to improve performance and provide greater flexibility and collaboration capabilities to address digital business needs.

Ericsson in partnership with Telenor Microfinance Bank have successfully completed a major tech stack upgrade of the Ericsson Mobile Financial Services platform at TMB, upgrading it to the latest cloud-native version. Alkira launched Alkira Zero Trust Network Access, a cloud-based service that redefines secure access from anywhere for the modern enterprise. Set for general availability in Q4 2024, Alkira ZTNA combines zero trust principles with Alkira's renowned network infrastructure expertise to deliver a unified platform for end-to-end secure connectivity without compromising on network performance and efficiency.

Market News

HP has acquired Vyopta, an Austin based provider of collaboration management solutions, offering analytics and monitoring for large, unified communications and collaboration networks. Vyopta brings extensive expertise and infrastructure to turbocharge the development of HP’s Workforce Experience Platform and provide customers with more insights and capabilities. Comarch has become the latest member of the Utilities Technology Council, an America-based global trade association representing the critical communications and technology interests of energy, gas, and water utilities. This partnership will aid UTC's efforts to enable and enhance the utilities industry globally and strengthen Comarch's presence in the United States. ServiceNow pledged its commitment to the UK market, with plans to invest $1.5bn into its UK business over the next five years. The company plans to expand with new office space, as ServiceNow significantly grows its employee base beyond its current headcount of 1,000 employees.

The US Department of Defense awarded another contract for more than $4 million to Gilat Satellite Networks' US-based subsidiary, DataPath, for DKET 3421 terminals, portable satcom hubs that provide the flexibility, capacity, connectivity, and control needed to ensure mission success anywhere in the world. The orders are expected to be delivered during the first half of 2025. Nokia has signed a multi-year patent license agreement with HP covering the use of Nokia’s video technologies in HP’s devices. Under the agreement HP will make royalty payments to Nokia. The agreement resolves all patent litigation between the parties, in all jurisdictions. The terms of the agreement remain confidential as agreed between the parties.

Ciena's Board of Directors have authorized a program to repurchase up to $1 billion of the company’s common stock, commencing in fiscal year 2025 and continuing through the end of fiscal year 2027. VIAVI opened its VIAVI Automated Lab-as-a-Service Open RAN testing facility in Chandler, Arizona with a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by senior VIAVI management, customers, partners, government officials, and dignitaries.
