Network and Mobile News
Nokia and Intuitive Machines announced the successful final integration of Nokia’s Lunar Surface Communication System into the IM-2 mission lander, named Athena. Athena and the LSCS will voyage
to the lunar south pole region in the upcoming IM-2 mission, where Nokia and Intuitive Machines intend to deploy
the first cellular network on the Moon. Nokia also shared that they are partnering on network
APIs to support
StarHub’s mission to create new
revenue opportunities for its customers and monetize its network assets. The companies will work together to help developers create 5G and 4G applications like device status and quality of
service on demand for banking, finance, ports, and other enterprise verticals.
The State of Florida is investing in
critical
connectivity for public safety with FirstNet, by acquiring 50 mobile cell sites that they can self-deploy to boost connectivity during emergencies. Nokia and stc Group have
successfully concluded the first-ever
1Tbps long haul field
trial in the Middle East and Africa regions. Rohde & Schwarz collaborated with Telia to drive
mobile network excellence in Norway, even in challenging environments shaped by Norway’s unique
geography. The Wireless Broadband Alliance released an introductory report on
6G’s potential transformative role titled, “6G - WBA Vision
Statement.” The statement calls for greater collaboration between all stakeholders if 6G is to deliver on its promise, and details five key vision points for 6G, to achieve ubiquitous
connectivity that comprises Wi-Fi, cellular, non-terrestrial networks, IoT LPWANs, and other wireless technologies at its core.
ZTE has successfully
collaborated with Bitel, one
of the Peru's top mobile network operators. This partnership aims to strengthen Peru's digital infrastructure and accelerate the delivery of advanced telecommunications services
nationwide. Telxius has upgraded its
Global Carrier Ethernet service with flexible bandwidth options for businesses in the Americas and Europe. The service enables enterprises and service providers to
maximize their investments with more bandwidth flexibility when connecting to key global hubs and cloud service providers. DE-CIX reached a
record-breaking milestone in the amount of global data traffic being exchanged at
its locations in 2024. Ericsson, Telstra, and MediaTek have
set a new benchmark in 5G connectivity by reaching a peak downlink speed of 9.4
Gbps on its live commercial 5G Standalone network. In the lab, Telstra drove the needle even higher, surpassing the 10 Gbps downlink speed threshold in a mobile network using a non-commercial
setup.
Anritsu released enhanced software functions for its
Signal Analyzers MS2830A/MS2840A/MS2850A. These enhancements enable the analyzers to extend the spectrum measurement frequency range to encompass the millimeter-wave
band by connecting VDI or Eravant external mixers. Cerillion signed a
major new contract with Ucom, one of the leading telecommunications providers in Armenia. Cerillion will implement its pre-integrated BSS/OSS suite as the digital
foundation to power-up Ucom’s quadruple-play services portfolio and enable the next phase of growth. Vocus launched
400G terrestrial intercapital services spanning Australia between the east and west
coasts.
