As
Pipeline enters its 15th volume, it causes me take pause. Over the last 15 years, we've seen—and covered—
a lot of topics. We have had
the privilege to watch the world change. Dramatically.
During this time we saw the advent of IP-based services, smart phones, social media, tablets, cloud computing, and the internet of things (IoT). Just to name a few. We've been on the forefront of
worldwide transformation, and have foreseen everything from Microsoft 365 to the NSA leak.
Today, we are standing on the precipice of even greater change. Billions of IoT devices are coming online. Artificial Intelligence is being deployed, and getting a heck of a lot smarter.
Threats continue to evolve and the risks, and stakes, have become greater now than they have ever been. So I'm left to wonder, what does it all mean?
In short, it means we must prepare. We need to break down the issues and challenges into addressable chunks and solve them. We need to look forward, while keeping our feet firmly grounded,
to ensure we are making decisions that both help us now and long into the future.
In this issue of Pipeline, we explore the many different facets of IoT and the device revolution. We take a look at the top device security risks, fog and edge computing tactics, and
mobile network transformation. We hear from Vodafone on how IoT is changing the world. We learn about IoT monetization strategies, innovation in IoT patent filings, and much more.
We hope you enjoy this and every issue of Pipeline.
