NHG Health and Singtel Partner to Bring 5G Connectivity to Enhanced Community Health Posts in Singapore

NHG Health and Singtel announced that they are partnering to provide 5G+ Priority network connectivity to enhanced Community Health Posts, across Central and North Singapore, starting with enhanced CHPs in Singapore's first Age Well Neighbourhood in Toa Payoh and expanding to enhanced CHPs in Woodlands, Sembawang and Yishun. Singtel will sponsor 40 SIM cards across 40 enhanced CHP sites located within Active Ageing Centres, laying a strong foundation for scalable, future-ready connectivity that will enable residents, especially seniors, to access reliable teleconsultation services with healthcare professionals.

Enhancing Community Health across Central and North Singapore

As the Regional Health Manager for Central and North Singapore, NHG Health operates a wide network of 105 CHPs. Majority of the CHPs are located within or near AACs, making it more convenient for residents to access health advice and services. NHG Health has been progressively enhancing CHPs since the start of 2026.

A key feature of enhanced CHPs is the teleconsultation service, which allows residents to speak with nurses daily and with pharmacists and dieticians on a fortnightly basis during the AAC opening hours. Another key feature is frailty prevention and management through NHG Health's Be Fit, Not Frail (BFF) programme for seniors aged 60 and above. Developed by a multidisciplinary team of nurses, allied health professionals and doctors, the BFF programme is currently offered at over 40 sites, bringing frailty screening and management closer to seniors in the community.

In a significant new development, NHG Health has introduced Community Health Pods - a new design concept for enhanced CHPs that creates an interactive, accessible space for residents to access health and social care information, engage in face-to-face consultations, teleconsultations, and self-monitoring of health indicators such as blood pressure. The first Community Health Pod, which is operational in Woodlands, is powered by Singtel's 5G+ Priority connectivity, which is a network slicing capability that allocates dedicated network resources to ensure consistently high performance, even during periods of congestion.

Singtel enables enhanced CHPs in Central and North Singapore

Seamless connectivity is essential to delivering the teleconsultation services within the enhanced CHPs. While teleconsultation services have been introduced at enhanced CHPs to bring care closer to residents, inconsistent Wi-Fi connectivity has posed challenges in delivering stable, real-time consultations. This can impact the quality of care and limit the ability to scale such services effectively.

5G enables greater flexibility in how and where care is delivered. Under the partnership, Singtel’s robust 5G+ Priority capabilities, security through eSIM management and scalable managed services, will allow NHG Health to extend services into another eight towns in Central and North Singapore over time, reaching more residents and supporting broader adoption of neighbourhood-based care. The initial rollout will cover 40 SIM cards at 40 sites at Toa Payoh, Woodlands, Sembawang and Yishun by end 2027.

Professor Joe Sim, Group Chief Executive Officer, NHG Health, said, “Our partnership with Singtel marks an important step in how we care for our residents, meeting them where they are. Through technology, residents have the option to stay connected with our community health teams even on days when they are not physically present. This tech-enabled approach brings care closer to home, reducing unnecessary travel to hospitals or clinics for both residents and caregivers.”

Mr Ng Tian Chong, CEO, Singtel Singapore, said, “As Singapore’s population ages, there is growing demand for accessible, community-based healthcare. Together, NHG Health and Singtel aim to leverage technology to bring healthcare closer to home and improve outcomes for those who need it most. With 5G+ Priority, we can deliver more reliable, low-latency and secure connectivity — ensuring that teleconsultations are smooth, data is transmitted in real time, and care teams can respond with confidence.”

More Connected Community Care

Looking ahead, NHG Health and Singtel are exploring how the partnership can extend beyond community spaces to also bring connectivity and devices into residents' homes.
