Dell'Oro Group Releases Report on Revenue for Broadband Access Equipment

Total Broadband Access Equipment Revenue Rebounds from Anemic Q1, Led By Strong Investments in PON Infrastructure, According to Dell’Oro Group

PON Equipment Revenue up 20 Percent Y/Y

According to a newly published report by Dell’Oro Group, the trusted source for market information about the telecommunications, networks, and data center IT industries, total global revenue for Broadband Access equipment increased to $3.3 Billion, up 6 percent from 2Q19. Growth came from spending on PON equipment, particularly in EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), where total PON equipment revenue reached $876 M.

“Fiber expansion projects continue to expand around the world, as evidenced by continued strong demand for OLT ports,” said Jeff Heynen, Sr. Research Director, Broadband Access and Home Networking. “The sustained fiber investments are a clear sign that providers realize just how critical premium residential broadband access is to their business,” explained Heynen.

Following are additional highlights from the 2Q 2020 Broadband Access Quarterly Report:

  • Total Cable Access Concentrator revenue decreased 8 percent year-over-year (Y/Y) to $219 M, driven once again by a slowdown in CCAP license purchases in North America.
  • Total DSL Access Concentrator port shipments were up 7 percent Y/Y, driven by a rebound in total VDSL port shipments.
  • Total PON ONT unit shipments increased 17 percent Y/Y, with strong growth seen in EMEA and CALA (Caribbean and Latin America).
