Effective Date: May 23, 2018

Pipeline Publishing, L.L.C. (Pipeline) captures, maintains, and occasionally shares subscriber data with client companies. Client companies support Pipeline and ensure its content remains viable and free to use for subscribers. Pipeline maintains your data in secure, third-party applications to protect your data and only shares it to foster productive relationships between our subscribers and clients. You always have the choice to not subscribe and provide any data to Pipeline, to modify the data stored by Pipeline, to unsubscribe from Pipeline at any time, or have your data entirely removed from Pipeline’s systems.

Data Collected

Personal and professional data such as name, company information, job title, phone number, addresses, social media profiles, subscription information, and topical interested are collected by Pipeline (collectively, “data”) at the time of subscription as outlined on the subscription form. Only the data you provide is collected.

Enhanced Data

Your data may be enriched with information about your company such as alignments to Pipeline’s services, editorial topics, and other information based on Pipeline’s own independent research. This information is gathered from public information sources – such as your company’s website and personal and professional social media channels (such as LinkedIn.com) – to tailor Pipeline’s sales, marketing, and editorial outreach to relevant subscribers and contacts maintained in Pipeline’s Data Systems.

Data Systems

Pipeline maintains its data in two primary data systems: Act-On and Microsoft Dynamics. These are secure, third-party applications and the Pipeline users who have access to these systems agree to special privacy terms and their usage is contractually governed and secured by system rights, rules, and permissions.

Cookies, Emails and Website Tracking

Website authentication and tracking technology such as “cookies” are used to gather and analyze website and email usage data. Pipeline uses “smart pixel” and website technology such as cookies to collect information from subscribers about email interactions, web site visits, and engagements with content. This information is primarily used internally by Pipeline, and is occasionally summarized for clients in reports to detail interactions and suggest the level of interest in their content (e.g. if client content was opened, clicked on, or downloaded by subscribers). This is intended to primarily provide information to Pipeline clients regarding the level of interest in their content and to promote productive business relationships between interested subscribers and relevant clients.

Third-party Data Sharing

Under certain circumstances, Pipeline may be required to disclose your data if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency). Pipeline may disclose your Personal Data in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • To comply with a legal obligation
  • To protect and defend the rights or property of Pipeline
  • To prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing
  • To protect the personal safety of subscribers, clients, or the public
  • To protect against legal liability

Occasionally, Pipeline clients may purchase reports to detail subscriber interaction with the material(s) they promote to Pipeline’s subscribers such as sponsored content, advertisements, webinars, surveys, reports, press releases and other content. In these events, your data is shared with Pipeline clients to provide insights into subscriber interest related to their company and content.

Ecommerce and Credit Card Data

Credit card data provided via ecommerce forms on Pipeline’s website is never stored by Pipeline. It is encrypted at the time of transaction and directly transmitted to the financial institution at the time your information is submitted. It is not retained by our systems.

Credit card information provided to Pipeline outside of ecommerce forms (manually) must be submitted according to the instructions on the authorization form(s) to ensure its security. Failure to submit the information according to the instructions or through insecure methods can pose serious security risks and Pipeline insists that instructions are followed to avoid data privacy concerns.

Right to be Informed and Right of Access and Right to Rectification (GDPR)

Pipeline provides reasonable steps to allow you to correct, amend, delete, or limit the use of your data. Whenever made possible, you can update your data directly using the manage subscription option.

If you wish to be informed what data we hold about you, or to correct such information, please contact us. You also have the option to remove your data from our systems entirely by electing to be removed from our systems.

You have the right to data portability for the information you provide to Pipeline. You can request to obtain a copy of your data in a commonly used electronic format so that you can manage and move it. Please note that we may ask you to verify your identity before responding to such requests.

Right to Erasure (GDPR)

The right to erasure does not provide an absolute ‘right to be forgotten’. Individuals have a right to have personal data erased and to prevent processing in specific circumstances:

  • where the personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purpose for which it was originally collected,
  • the personal data is processed in relation to the offer of information society services to a child,
  • when the individual withdraws consent,
  • the personal data was unlawfully processed,
  • when the individual objects to the processing and there is no overriding legitimate interest for continuing the processing, or
  • the personal data must be erased in order to comply with a legal obligation.

Right to Restrict Processing (GDPR)

You have rights to request to ‘block’ or suppress processing of personal data. When processing is restricted, Pipeline is permitted to store the personal data, but not further process it.

Right to Data Portability (GDPR)

You have rights to move, copy or transfer personal data easily from one IT environment to another in a safe and secure way. We will provide all personal data in a structured way using open formats like CSV, should you request it.
