New SDM Solution Cuts Time Needed to Provision NFV Subscriber Data Openwave Mobility launches Industry’s First NFV compliant Subscriber Data Management SolutionOpenwave Mobility today announced the first NFV-compliant subscriber data management solution that it claims can cut subscriber data provisioning integration from up to 9 months down to just 15 days REDWOOD CITY, CA and MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS, Barcelona 23 February 2016–Openwave Mobility, a software innovator enabling operators to manage and monetize encrypted mobile data, has today launched the industry’s first fully compliant SDN/NFV-compliant Subscriber Data Management (SDM) solution. SDM Cloud Edition (SDM:CE) is a virtualized User Data Repository (vUDR) for carriers to deploy in NFV environments. Mobile operators can now benefit from faster network provisioning and reduce time-to-market when launching new subscriber-based services to secure revenue streams. SDM:CE has already been deployed by one European Tier 1 group operator for their wireline and wireless customers. Currently, operators can use SDN/NFV technologies to reduce the time it takes to deploy non-subscriber aware network functions such as load balancers, gateways and firewalls. However, subscriber-aware network functions such as voicemail, messaging and HSS (Home Subscriber Servers) can take time to integrate with subscriber provisioning and billing systems. Usually subscriber data provisioning integration can take up to 9 months. The European operator using SDM:CE cut that time down to just 15 days. SDM-CE is based on Openwave Mobility’s Smart User Repository (SUR) and Smart Data Federator (SDF) products. The solutions have a global footprint of 400 million subscribers, including the largest UDR deployment in the world at a Tier 1 carrier in North America. Openwave Mobility’s SDM solution recently won the IoT Evolution Excellence Award. “Yes, NFV delivers efficiencies. Yet, one of the biggest pain points for operators is the long lead times needed to provision the subscriber data into network functions” said Indranil Chatterjee, SVP Product & Sales at Openwave Mobility. “Our solution is the missing piece in the puzzle. To achieve the network agility promised by NFV, vUDR must be one of the first applications operators should deploy on their clouds. The vUDR functionality with integrated data federation features allow carriers to gain a consolidated view of all their subscribers and empowers them to launch new services seamlessly and quickly. To put it simply, it has given a major European Tier 1 operator a huge competitive advantage as it prepares to support hundreds of millions of IoT devices by 2020.” SDM:CE strengthens Openwave Mobility’s commitment to delivering innovative solutions to help operators monetize their subscriber data and effectively manage technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT). SDM:CE is capable of handling over a billion subscribers or connected products and can store data from IoT devices. Source: Openwave Mobility release |
