items each year, DAB offers a range of solutions to help optimize energy
consumption in residential and commercial applications, as well as irrigation
systems for agriculture. In 2020, DAB Pumps launched an
extensive programme to transform its infrastructure in support of its business
priorities. These include goals to double in size in five years and to drive
faster innovation to enable it to differentiate against the competition. A key
part of the programme was updating its integration architecture to improve
communication between the company's various enterprise applications as a
foundation for business expansion. DAB Pumps looked for an open,
standards-based integration system that would provide freedom of choice to
implement the best software for its needs at any given time.
The IT team at DAB Pumps used Red Hat Integration technologies, including Red Hat Runtimes, Red Hat Fuse, Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform, Red Hat Data Grid and Red Hat AMQ, to integrate and accelerate data access for critical systems, such as product lifecycle management (PLM), customer relationship management (CRM) and business intelligence (BI). DAB Pumps is also preparing to move its systems to the cloud for greater resilience and scalability, and has chosen Red Hat OpenShift as a common platform to enable portability of workloads and greater consistency of performance and reliability across hybrid environments. Using Red Hat OpenShift, the industry’s leading enterprise Kubernetes platform, DAB Pumps is moving from a monolithic environment to a microservices architecture. The manufacturer has started migrating its existing middleware to Red Hat OpenShift as well as developing cloud-native applications on the platform, some of which make use of the Kubernetes-native Java framework Quarkus for lower memory footprint. This all runs on the trusted backbone of the world’s leading enterprise Linux platform, Red Hat Enterprise Linux. As a result, DAB Pumps’ IT team now has centralized management and visibility across its infrastructure. This makes it easier for the IT organization to monitor processes with reduced administration, improving productivity and helping to drive greater business value. DAB Pumps was able to take advantage of Red Hat's integrated componentes and built-in automation capabilities out-of-the box, enabling them to reduce development cycles and get applications to market in 60% less time than before. DAB Pumps can now make data from across its business, such as customers’ order history or factory machine usability, available in real-time to enterprise applications, which helps the company to operate more efficiently, streamline the user experience and innovate faster.
