Southern
Telecom Announces Network Fiber
Initiative in Southeast US
Southern Telecom, Inc. (STI), a
subsidiary of Southern Company, announces new underground
fiber routes and colocation facilities are being planned and
constructed as part of a network fiber strategy across the
Southeast. Existing cables will be replaced with new
underground fiber featuring increased capacity, higher fiber
counts and state-of-the-art technology to enable more
flexibility for STI’s current and future customers.
STI is constructing and evaluating
several new routes around the Southeast. There are over 600
miles currently under construction, primarily as part of joint
projects. The company is also seeking route joint build
partners and customers for other existing routes and potential
greenfield projects.
“We are constantly evaluating
routes and are committed to offering our customers and
partners the very best dark fiber and colocation services in
the Southeast,” says Barry Navarre, Business
Development Manager for STI. “As part of our network fiber
strategy, we’ll be enhancing current routes and introducing
new ones through strategic partnerships.”
