11/3/2011 FTTH Council Europe Releases Fiber Speed Tool
We've all seen the theoretical numbers for Fiber To The Home (FTTH) , and they're big (bigger is better, right?). But in a real-world setting, just how much faster is Fiber than DSL or 4G for that matter?
The FTTH Council Europe has updated and released a tool that simulates downloads and graphically displays the relative download and upload times across various network types and file sizes. The advantages of FTTH are amazing; basic fiber downloads a 600MB file in under two minutes, and advanced fiber accomplishes the same feat in four seconds!
I guess it's no surprise why Verizon FiOS is the only ISP in the U.S. that consistently over-delivered on speed claims in recent federal testing.
If you're looking to easily explain the advantages of a fiber-based technology solution, this is a great tool to have in your arsenal.
Check it out here.
