Rise Broadband Extends Its Communications Network Into Under-Served Markets

Rise Broadband Expands Fixed Wireless Network in Ten Markets; Fast, Affordable Internet Access in Under-served Communities

Fixed wireless internet and digital phone provider Rise Broadband today announced it is expanding its high-speed broadband service into ten under-served communities in Texas, Illinois, Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas

Rise Broadband, the country’s largest fixed wireless internet and digital phone provider, has expanded its communications network in ten market areas in conjunction with the Federal Communications Commission’s Connect America Fund program. As a result, more residents and businesses in these locales are able to get high-speed access to data, streaming, shopping and other on-line activities.

“Because we deliver internet/phone service through a wireless connection, our customers get fast, reliable and affordable access in areas often under-served by wireline carriers,” said Jack Koo, Rise Broadband’s president and chief executive officer. “In doing so, we connect people with the enhanced information, entertainment and education they desire while supporting and bolstering each area’s economy in the process.”

In 2015, Rise began upgrading its markets to Long-Term Evolution (LTE) technology, providing speeds up to 50 Mbps (megabits per second). To date, more than 40 markets have been enhanced and others are scheduled over the next nine to 15 months.

The term “fixed wireless” means Rise Broadband delivers internet and digital phone service to permanent structures (home and businesses) using wireless spectrum (airwaves) – not fiber, cable or satellite technology – to connect customers. The company also offers DISH and Direct TV service throughout its coverage area.
